Description

One of the most fascinating and unique artists working today, Reggie Watts combines looped vocals created live on stage with his unique brand of improvised comedy. Reggie's subjects range from ancient history to technology to spirit elves to theology to pop culture. The music incorporates hip-hop, trip-hop, 80's pop alternative, nu-metal and classical opera. Reggie loves to disorient and confuse people in the most entertaining way possible. This CD/DVD combo features a full album of live and studio tracks, his hour Comedy Central special, and lots of other video bonus features.

5Reggie Watts = Entertainment Supergenius  Feb 24, 2011 By Dr. Lt. Esq. Weil III
This DVD and CD are proof of Reggie Watt's unmatched (at least in my opinion) ability to entertain and astound his audience. He does things nobody else does. If your a comedian, you need to own this DVD and study it like a bible. This kind of comedy will be taking over. If you are just an average person like me who has an appreciation for a sharp wit then you should really consider purchasing this. He is like a chameleon. You never know if the joke is the joke or if the way he is telling the joke is the joke or if there really is no joke (he has an uncanny ability to make you think you know whats coming next, and then go somewhere completely different with it often without resolve) and he switches between these deliveries rapidly and without warning. Also, whoever produced this DVD knew what they were doing. The sound quality is superb, stereo works and sounds great! And the video editing qualities range from silly to tremendously artistic to downright trippy.
If any or all of the above sound intriguing, satisfy your curiosity and buy the DVD, its only like 13 bucks...

5Super Dooper Funny  Oct 10, 2011 By Jaime Hayes
This guy is so clever, so great at doing impressions and obviously very smart. Reggie Watts combines so many types of humor with music and he is a keen observer of life. Smart Comedy. I love it!

5funny but weird  Jul 19, 2011 By mr.t
Very funny, very wierd, very different. Even for alternative comedy this guy is out there. Hope you have a friend named Holden.

4My definition of a boombastic jazz style  Oct 15, 2010 By Mr. Robert J. Simpson
"Reggie Watts is a most unusual talent: a huge vocal range, a natural musicality, and a sidesplitting wit. Is he a comedian? A singer? A performance artist? I've seen him a few times since then and I still can't decide. Whatever, he ain't like nobody else." - Brian Eno

And that's the problem in writing a review.

Where's the foothold? What's the thing that you write that lets someone get a grip on what Reggie does? Truthfully, the only way you'll know if this is for you is to find some webvideo and check him out that way.

If you already know and like Reggie, then the question is "Is this show any good?"

The answer is: Yes. It's really very good.

4Reggie Watts: Why S#%t So Crazy  Sep 21, 2010 By damian
Having come across a glimpse of Reggie in the extras to a Dresden Dolls performance dvd, even a tidbit got me curious and I wanted to check this guy out. He had something touching on the sublime in just this little snippet. After watching Why S#%t So Crazy I was both delighted and disappointed. I felt I could see his goofiness and rambling non sequitur's as a kind of cover for a very thoughtful man. And of course the 'theatre' as destroyer of narrative/expectations - so embraced by 'avant gardists' - was some kind of influence as well - to the most tedious points of diversion, such as his extended motor skill moron display of being unable to fix his mike or mike stand whilst seated at the keyboard. How the insiders on the pot smoking tip laughed!
Ha ha! How dull dear Reggie. But then he soared! Within moments looping his voice into a back rythm boogie and exalting over the top. Tears. I could feel the connection. This man was divine. But then back down to the deliberate dumbo the elephant routine. Hiding the purity.
Would it work without the contrast? Does genius have to cloak itself in mud to make the blinding light bearable?
Reggie i love you. Let your light shine. The comedy is good, even a dadaist on the yoko-ono-list could appreciate the honed blendability for maximum audience comfort and juxtaposed counterpoint to the music bits - but less dullity and more shining agility please. A nice intro to a man who can shape universes with his vocal skill - but not enough of that beauty. You want this dvd - but really you want the next one that isn't out yet - where he pours his spirit out - with out restriction. We want your blood Reggie, give it to us! I'm kidding. Poor bloody performers. We want them to give us enlightenment. There is a touch here. Reggie has the gift - but he's waiting for something.
