1Ugh. This was garbage  Jun 24, 2011 By Mr. Muh4kin ExQuire
Now, I like Nick Cannon. I was too broke as a kid to have cable but I was aware of him and even then I liked him. I liked him in Wild N Out show on MTV he was very funny and clever on that show (along with Affion Crockett and Katt Williams, and the one slim white guy whose name I dont know).

However, I dont know what the eff this album is. It's a mess. It is a true mess. I saw somewhere someone said that Nick Cannon should've done a few open mics before doing this ish. Which is very sensible and reasonable conclusion I came to after hearing this album. If you are an avid standup comedy fan you'll probrably hate this album so if you want to listen to it I reccommend getting if from somewhere else.

I dont even know where to start on this, but it sounds like this was Nick's first stand-up performance in a while...and I mean A WHILE. Much of his jokes were done to death by many comics in the last decade. His transitions and set-ups consisted of "hey audience yall like..." or "hey audience clap if yall like". Which made it seemed nubile and especially hearing him use these lines after a poor transition or last joke. His caricatures werent too believable either.

The main thing that made this album disappointing was the overdone premises with not even an ounce of freshness. "No Homo", Kanye West Taylor-Swift interrupting joke, Denzel Impression, Family is poor buying knockoff food (aka cereal), extreme white dudes, etc...

The premises that arent overdone (yet). Seem to be similar to Kevin Hart's stuff such as his "grandfather that got of prison and wants him to be a thug", the "my woman (Mariah Carey) made me her bitch"...though Nick executes them extremely poorly though admittedly it is hard to emulate Kevin Hart and his excellent delivery, tonal inflections, and timing.

Anyway, that being said if you're not a comedy-o-phile then by all means you may enjoy this so take a chance. Though, as for me it was wack.

2Comedic Actor not Comedian  Jul 27, 2012 By BAMBAM
Love Nick Cannon but it was a very bad stand-up. There were even points where the crowd was silent. In general he is a very good Comedic Actor.

4A Funny Glimpse Into Nick Cannon's Life  May 19, 2011 By buckinghamnicks
I wasn't sure I was going to like Nick Cannon's stand-up show, Mr. Showbiz, but after listening to the preview of it, I'm glad I did. It's fun and full of hilarious insights into his life, his youth, and how it feels to be married to Mariah Carey. He had me cracking up when he was talking about how he has "hood habits" that carry over from his youth and how he's still not used to life as a celebrity. He said they always used dish soap for everything when he was a kid - shampoo, laundry, etc. I laughed out loud at that because it's so true! My mom had us use dish soap for everything, too - even homemade bubbles. LOL. He also dishes a little about life being married to Mariah Carey and how their bathroom has so much stuff in it it looks like Rite Aid. You can find out more about the album from his website [...] or you might be lucky enough to catch his special on Showtime (it's running through the end of the month)!

5Every mom needs a good laugh!  May 18, 2011 By M. Davis
I love comedy in any form so when I heard Nick Cannon had a comedy CD out I decided to give it a whirl. As a stay at home mom who spends her days chasing after kiddos, cleaning up endless messes, homeschooling, driving kids around town, and so on it's great to sit and have a laugh! I found Nick's comedy to be somewhat predictable and that's what I loved about it. It wasn't too far fetched. It was original. It was about real life. I really, really enjoyed it!
I also caught his first stand-up special on Showtime last Saturday night and it was great! I'm pretty sure they will be replaying it a lot so look out for it.
Nick is a talented comedian, actor, and host of America's Got Talent, which starts a new season on Tuesday 5/31.

5MEETING! Nick Cannon delivers on his first comedy album!  May 26, 2011 By John VanHorne "Mr Funny"
Everyone knows Nick from America's Got Talent - some know him from his music career - and others just know him as Mr Mariah Carey. Nick touches on all of these things plus his marriage to Mariah and his feud with Eminem. My favorite bit is about how white people have meetings about everything. A good fun laugh. Recommended!
