Instant Favorite Jul 16, 2013
By M. Welsh
I downloaded this and listened to it on the ride in to work the morning it came out. A sure way to get a seat on a crowded subway is to be the guy who bursts out with loud belly laughs at random intervals. Listening to "Ask Me About My New God!" will do the trick nicely.
I can't describe why, but Ms. Bamford seems to have a confidence in this performance that has replaced her earlier meekness, and that makes her story-jokes land with a satisfying punch.
Fans of comedians like Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, Daniel Tosh, etc., probably won't let themselves like Maria Bamford, which is a shame, but people who like their comedy with an experimental twist, and whose minds are open and agile enough to follow the twists and leaps of her tales will find by the end that they enjoyed the ride, and will probably want more.

Pop open those diet coke cans Jul 24, 2013

I have been listening to Maria Bamford's stand up since I was just a wee littl'un. This is by far her best, and I've loved everything she has done. If you're like me, by which I mean paralyzed by anxiety and suffering under the yoke of your own inambition (it's a word now, google chrome), then meet your messiah. Never have I felt so not alone.

She has reached a brand new level in herself Jul 19, 2013

she is manifesting an aggressive brilliance that rides the edge of her brittle insides- there is a bravery, honesty, and abundance that I don't find anywhere else- she will wake you up.

So funny it'll make you snort. Jul 26, 2013

As usual the Bammer brings it. Just the right mix of belly laughs, introspection, poking fun at the establishment and heart to leave you satisfied.

Overdue... Jul 19, 2013
By Philip gagne
Been too long since the last album.
Pros: 4 stars... "I liked it." Um, it is a stand up album. It was funny. Mission Accomplished Bamford.
Cons: It wasn't as funny as the last album. However, it is still funnier than most of the albums that I've listened to during the last 3 years.
I hope this will give you some context for my opinions on stand up. A list of comedians whom, in the last 3 years, released albums I enjoyed, but I think Bamford outshined: Benson, Oswalt, Stanhope, Kinane, Tompkins, Kirkman, Holmes, Buress, Barker, Barry...
Based on the last 3 years, comedians who I think released better albums: Louis C.K., and Maron.
